Note: 13 Star Sign Astrology is an ancient form of Astrology that hasn’t been used for over 2000 years. It is based on the true astronomical data of the Planets and includes the constellation of Ophiuchus (Serpentarius) who also sits on the ecliptic. So the Star Sign I am referring to may be in the previous Star Sign compared to the traditional forms of Astrology used. Our ancestors used this system of astrology for many centuries until the map was redesigned for agricultural reasons and because it didn’t allow movement for the precession of the equinox’s; or use the true sizes of the constellations; this map has been out of date for many, many years.

The New Moon begins on the 28th January 2017 at 07:00 GMT in Capricorn

The Moon in Capricorn has a reserved and cautious nature and is inclined to come across as cold and austere; she sometimes takes life a little bit too seriously. She searches for a sense of security by focusing on her material values rather than her spiritual, this can lead her into selfish vested interests as she yearns for money, power and status to achieve a sense of self worth.

Our New Moon has no harsh aspects towards her this month which is quite a welcome relief, although, this position of the Moon is not favorable because she Is in her detriment in Capricorn. Positively, we can use her energy to focus on our long range goals and use her more positive traits of caution, discipline and strategy to structure our lives in a more harmonious way. Negatively her energy can create a lack of self worth and over sensitivity, it is important that we concentrate on our core strength (solar plexus Chakra) to maintain or develop confidence and wellbeing. Also with the Moon in Capricorn there is a vulnerability with bones, teeth, nails and hair. The Moon in Capricorn is prone to a calcium deficiency, so watch out for toothaches, stiff joints, headaches and bad hair days! Make sure your Calcium/magnesium levels are adequate. The Black Moon Lilith is in Libra this New Moon, casting her shadow of perfection and her fear of loneliness. We must be realistic with our expectations and not tear ourselves apart for our perceived failures or be critical of how things appear; things are not always what they seem. As Jupiter turns into retrograde mode on the 7th February in Virgo, we must be very patient with ourselves and others as the energy of Jupiter retrograding through Virgo creates a lack of perspective and clear vision. It is time to lighten up and tune into the beauty of nature and value the things we already have.

The Chinese New Year also begins on the 28th January bringing in the 'Year of the Fire Rooster' last year 2016 was the 'Year of the Fire Monkey' who's energy is unpredictable and erratic, this was a year of sudden changes and risk taking. The Year of the Monkey is designed to shake things up a bit and if the energy is used positively, can release and clear out stagnant energy, old burdens and obstacles on our path. The 'Year of the Fire Rooster' is about knuckling down and being responsible, especially when it comes to career and work. But just as the Monkey can be over egoistical and devious, the Rooster can be vain and boastful.

For this New Moon I would recommend working on our Solar Plexus Chakra, Sacral Chakra and Diet. For the Solar Plexus (core strength) surround yourself with the color 'Yellow' or visualize yellow when meditating; burn a yellow candle and citrus incense. Include Turmeric, Flax, Chamomile, Butternut Squash and Bananas into your diet. Use the affirmation: I love and accept myself. I am confident and have respect for all life.

For the Sacral Chakra (emotion, pleasure and connection) surround yourself with the color 'Orange' or visualize orange when meditating; burn an orange or white candle and Gardenia, Patchouli, Sandlewood or Ylang Ylang incense. Include Nuts, Seeds, Coconut and Orange Foods such as Carrots, Oranges, Pumpkin and Omega 3 into your diet. Use the affirmation: I take good care of my physical body. I am at peace.
